Baler is not only known as one of the surfing spots in the Philippines (other surfing spots are Surigao del Norte and La Union), but it also serves the best taste of paco salad (termed ensaladang pako by locals) in the country. What makes it best among the rest is that the ferns (paco plants) were freshly picked in the mountainous parts of Baler, topped with fresh salted eggs, boiled and peeled eggplant, tomatoes, onions and shrimp paste.

 You must try this salad that’s not only good for your taste buds but also good to your health because it contains vitamins and minerals that our body needs.
