There are times we feel so tired of our trials and struggles. Our burdens get so heavy that we need someone to share it with. We forget that God is more than willing to share the load.

When we are faced with hardships, many people will say “Surrender it up to God”. That is true. We must surrender our hardships to God, knowing that He’ll take care of us.

But some people misinterpret the idea of surrendering as to doing nothing. For me, the idea of surrendering to God is still taking our part for God to work his wonders.

When my Mama died of her cancer, I was devastated. I asked God to take it (the pain, struggle, etc) away from me. I lost control and thinking that surrendering means doing nothing and leaving everything up to God. I left my businesses unattended. I ceased welfare of my niece and nephew. And then one day, it dawned in me, it’s like God is whispering, “Anak, I’ll carry the burden but you still need to get through it”. I was then mesmerized with that day’s bible passage:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble of heart; and you will find rest. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” – Matthew 11:28-30

I was reminded right then and there that we still need to do and give our best and work hard–that’s how we’ll learn from God–through the experience.

To this day, whenever I feel burdened and discouraged, I fervently ask God to take the load from me, but I still partake in lifting it up and not just leaving it on the way waiting for God to move it. This way, you’ll not just overcome the burden, you’ll also learn from the burden.

May you receive your blessings,

Tintin
